Standardised Geriatric Evaluation (SGE) is an interdisciplinary approach that aims at a medical and psycho-social evaluation of the patient, the establishment of a correct diagnosis and the identification of appropriate strategies for prevention, treatment and rehabilitation.  In this way, efforts and costs in the area of medical care can be reduced, and life expectancy increases.

SGE comprises a complex natural history of each patient, which includes personal data, anthropometric data, collateral hereditary antecedents, pervious diagnoses and treatment, and data on environmental life conditions (smoking, alcohol, drugs, stress, toxic environment), and social status.

The natural history is followed by application of a set of assessment scales specific to each age group (from the age of 45 upward):

• The Clock Drawing Test (CDT), H. Brodaty, which reflects the functions of the frontal and tempero-parietal cortex

• Evaluation of Static and Dynamic Balance (Tinetti) for diagnosis of neurodegenerative illnesses
• Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA), Guigoz Y, Vellas B and PJ Garry: for analysis of the patient’s nutritional state
• Bedsore Norton Scale for patients with severe pathology
• Laboratory analyses: biochemical tests and biomarkers

ITC equipment and devices for intelligent homecare are used for patients with severe psychical and/or physical disabilities.
We provide counselling to caregivers in charge of patients with psychical/physical disabilities and to families that care for non-hospitalised patients.

All patients are periodically checked (one month, three months and six months after the first assessment, diagnosis and recommendation for treatment, with visits at six-month intervals thereafter).
