The Memory Clinic

In 2003, the Ana Aslan International Foundation established under the auspices of the Ana Aslan International Academy of Aging, inside the Elias Emergency Hospital in Bucharest, the Centre for Diagnosis and Treatment of Memory-Loss Diseases.

Beginning with August 2011, the centre operates in a new modernized building endowed with last-hour technology, medical equipment and biochemistry laboratory, in Bucharest, 4 Spatarului Street, under a new name: Centre for Diagnosis and Treatment of Memory Impairment Diseases and Medical Rehabilitation.

Persons suffering from memory impairing illnesses such as Alzheimer’s or other related dementias are diagnosed, treated and monitored here over the long-term, in accordance with a treatment protocol based on personalised medication and a series of modern therapeutic methods and procedures:

  • Holistic, integrative and personalised evaluation and diagnosis
  • Practices and treatments supported by scientific proofs
  • Objective evaluations for efficient, long-term treatment
  • Physical medicine and rehabilitation.

Unfortunately, especially in the case of women, memory impairment can take hold before old age, starting from the age of 50-55.  The incidence of memory-loss diseases in elderly people, and the numerous medical, ethical, and socio-economic problems that these cause, means that this subject is a problem of extreme importance:

  • At the global level, memory loss affects forty per cent of the elderly population, while in Romania this pathology can be found in thirty-four per cent of the population between the ages of 55 and 80
  • The numerical increase of persons suffering from illnesses that affect the memory always raises issues of a medical, ethical, and socio-economic order within the medical care system.

Clinical data and statistics on memory loss bring prevention and early diagnosis as essential, forefront factors in the management of this pathology, these preventative actions having as aim to promote the healthy aging and, last but not least, to achieve a decrease in the costs connected with treatment and assistance.

The Centre for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Memory Impairment Diseases and Medical Rehabilitation is structured in such a way as to offer high-performance medical services in the field of brain aging, in an architecturally personalised setting, at European standards, after the model of Centres of Excellence for Memory Impairment in Sweden and France.
